Recognition of Prior LearningRecognition of prior learning in Turkish higher education institutions is still at an early stage. Therefore, the recognition of prior education has not been fully implemented in all programs of Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University. However, an exemption exam is held at the beginning of each academic year for the compulsory foreign language course included in the curricula of the departments. Students who have completed the self-learning process for these courses or believe they have achieved the learning outcomes through various methods are eligible to take these exams. Students who pass the exam are exempted from the corresponding course in their curriculum.
Degree Requirements and Rules The students studying in this undergraduate program are required to have a Cumulative Grade Points Average (Cum.GPA) of not less than 2.00/4.00 and have completed all the courses with at least a letter grade of DD/S in the program in order to graduate. The minimum number of ECTS credits required for graduation is 120. It is also mandatory for the students to complete their compulsory internship in a specified duration and quality.
Program ProfileThe aim of the program is to sustain a free, dynamic, and creative graphic design education while guiding our students toward creative thinking and effective design production. The program seeks to train conscious and creative designer candidates who comprehend graphic language as a form of expression and possess the foundation to perceive, question, define, and solve design problems on a universal scale.
Occupational Profiles of GraduatesA graphic design technician can work in medium and large-scale printing and publishing companies, graphic design studios, advertising agencies, the media sector, and institutions or organizations with in-house promotion units. Employment opportunities are expanding as they also contribute to the preparation of animations and graphics for e-learning projects in information technology.
Access To Upper DegreeStudents who successfully complete their associate degree education and achieve a passing score in the vertical transfer exam may continue their education in bachelor's degree programs such as: -Graphic -Graphic Design -Graphic Arts -Communication Design -Communication and Design -Photography -Photography and Video -Visual Communication -Visual Communication Design -Visual Arts -Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design
Exams, Assessment and Grading

At least one midterm exam is conducted each semester. In addition to the midterm, projects and assignments with specified deadlines are given at the beginning of each semester as outlined in the semester content. At the end of each semester, students are required to take the final exam. According to the student regulations and academic calendar, final exams are conducted on dates, at locations, and times determined and announced by the university.

The semester-end grade is calculated by the course instructor based on the results of the midterm, projects, assignments, and final exam.

At Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University, the passing grade is 60 out of 100. However, a minimum of 50 is required on the final or make-up exam. Exams are evaluated on a scale of 100 points. The semester/year-end grade for a course is calculated by taking 30% of the arithmetic average of the midterm(s) and 70% of the score obtained on the semester/year-end or make-up exam. However, this ratio can vary between 30% and 50% for the midterm(s) and between 70% and 50% for the semester/year-end or make-up exam, provided that the sum of these percentages equals 100%. This adjustment must be decided by the relevant faculty/school board, announced at the beginning of the semester, and specified in the course syllabus.

The resulting score is finalized by rounding to the nearest whole number: if the first decimal place is less than five, it is rounded down; if five or greater, it is rounded up.

For the Graphic Design Program at Saray Vocational School, the semester-end exam weight has been determined as 60% by the School Board Decision.

The final and make-up grades are submitted to the Student Affairs Office by the course instructor along with the evaluation criteria. These grades are then published in the student information system and officially announced.
